We have often been asked where the name “Golton in the Gap” comes from….
Golton Gorge is situated at the northern end of the Grampians National Park. Following a good rain, water runs from the Golton Gorge into the Golton Creek, which runs north out of the Grampians. The Golton Creek joins the Mt William Creek about 10km north of the Western Highway, and then about 3km further on, the Mt William Creek joins the Wimmera River.
The Golton Creek runs through our farming property. Therefore, when selecting a name for our new accommodation venture in Halls Gap, we chose to connect the reference to Golton with a reference to Halls Gap, hence “Golton in the Gap” was an obvious choice for us.
